Get your key
Your key is a long link that starts with ss://. You find it in your dashboard right after checkout, together with a QR code, and it is also in your welcome email. Copy the whole link.
Install Outline and connect
Outline is a free, open-source VPN app made by Jigsaw, a Google company. Pick your device:
- 1. Install Outline from the App Store and open it.
- 2. Copy your key from the dashboard, go back to Outline and tap the plus sign; the key is pasted automatically. You can also scan the QR code shown next to your key.
- 3. Tap Connect. The first time, iOS asks to add a VPN configuration: tap Allow and confirm with Face ID or your passcode.
- 1. Install Outline from Google Play and open it.
- 2. Copy your key from the dashboard, go back to Outline and tap the plus sign, then paste the key. Scanning the QR code works too.
- 3. Tap Connect and accept the connection request from Android.
- 1. Install Outline from the Mac App Store and open it.
- 2. Copy your key from the dashboard, click the plus sign in Outline and paste the key.
- 3. Click Connect. macOS asks once to add a VPN configuration: click Allow.
- 1. Download the installer, run it and open Outline.
- 2. Copy your key from the dashboard, click the plus sign in Outline and paste the key.
- 3. Click Connect. Windows may ask to allow Outline through the firewall: allow it.
- 1. Download the Linux client from getoutline.org and run it.
- 2. Copy your key from the dashboard, click the plus sign in Outline and paste the key.
- 3. Click Connect.
Check that platforms see the US
With Outline connected, open the free country check on the same device. It shows the country TikTok, Instagram and YouTube detect from your connection, and it should say United States.

VPN on first, app second
Connect Outline before you open TikTok, Instagram or YouTube, every time. Platforms read your location when the app opens.

Keep it on for the whole session
Leave Outline connected while you browse, watch and post. Opening the app without it shows the platform your real location again.

Same key, same device
Use one key on the device you post from and keep using it. The IP never changes, and that consistency is what platforms reward.
Quick fixes
Outline says Connected but nothing loads
Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, then disconnect and reconnect in Outline. Some networks slow or block VPN traffic, and a different network settles it in most cases.
The app still shows my own country
Close the app completely, make sure Outline shows Connected, then open the app again. The country is read when the app starts, not while it is running.
Outline says the key is invalid
Copy the key again from the dashboard and make sure you have the whole link, from ss:// to the end. Pasting from a chat app sometimes drops the last characters; the QR code avoids that.
Nothing changes after reconnecting
Restart the device, open Outline and connect before anything else, then run the country check again. A fresh start clears a stuck network setting in most cases.
